De Bouche A Oreille

This dress has traveled a long way to make it to this little girl.
The time, June 1995.
The place, Paris, France.
My sister gave birth to Courtney Nicole that year and I was in Europe seeing the world; broadening my mind. There wasn't much I could do to support her in those first days - so I bought her a dress. Her first (and possibly last) French "designer" dress. My sister has been thoughtful enough to save it for me. Just in case.....
And now it is hers.

Little Pink Riding Hood

Day care was closed today so I took a half of a day off and came home early this afternoon. Owen, Eliza and myself spent the day around here doing a whole lot of nothing and it was nice.
This is a jacket that Aunt Jan made Eliza several months ago. She is starting to grow into it now and I think it is pretty cute on her.
She is trying to pull up and stand all the time now.
Just tonight in the bath she pulled up on the side of the tub and grinned real big.
As if to say "Look at me! Look at me!" She was so proud of herself.
On another note, Aunt Jan and I are going to the Women of Joy conference in May and I can hardly wait. Priscilla Shirer, from my bible studies, is going to be one of the speakers. Charleston is such a beautiful town to visit also. It should be a lot fun.

Late Breaking News!

We have our first loose tooth!!!! I am so excited for him!!!
He was eating an apple tonight after dinner and said it was hurting his teeth. I told him to eat it anyway (not because I am a wicked step mother, but because he is notorious for wasting food, and let's face it red delicious apples are not cheap!). I went about my business cleaning up the kitchen and about 5 minutes later he came back over and said "Daddy and Owen are going to eat my apple for me so it is not wasted. My tooth right here is wiggly I think." I shrieked in excitement! And he grinned from ear to ear. Daddy felt it, then I felt it, and sure enough, it is loose. If you are looking at him straight on it is the top, middle on the right.
So what does every good mother do when their child is losing their first tooth? They jump on etsy.com and order a tooth fairy pillow, of course.
It should be here by the end of the week. Hang on tooth....

Eliza, You Are 7 Months Old

What are you up to these days?

Well, the biggest accomplishment just happened while I was taking your picture for this post.
You pulled yourself up to standing completely on your own. Time for daddy to lower your crib just a little bit more.
You are getting stronger and louder every day. You are learning how to smack your hands on things to make noise. And you are starting to babble more.
You are eating more solid foods and have now tried carrots and green beans. Next week at day care I am going to get a menu and circle more solid foods that you can start experimenting with there.
Your sleeping patterns are still not ideal. We have had a few good nights recently but last night you were back up crying. Maybe you are cutting another tooth. You have 6 now.
The other day I was bringing things in from the car and sat you down in the kitchen; when I came back inside I didn't see you. I looked around wondering where you could have gone and found you had laid down on your belly and pushed yourself backwards into the dining room. You are starting to learn how to get to where you want to go. Daddy continues to try to teach you to crawl.
Your brothers adore you and love to hold you and pick you up. We have to watch them closely because they will put you down wherever they see fit even if it is not a good place.
You are getting better and better at picking up your Gerber puffs and you have learned how to mash food between your gums.
You are immeasurably more than anything I could have asked for.
~Ephesians 3:20

Happy 7 months sweet, baby girl.

Happy Valentine's Day, 2010

I hope this finds everyone enjoying a loving Valentine's Day with those that mean the most to you. We spent our morning going to church (as a side note, I had no idea there were 4 books of John. There is John, as in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and then there is also First John, Second John and Third John, I had no idea! When the preacher started preaching out of First John this morning, I was in John and thought my Bible was a misprint. :-) ) and then having KFC for lunch. I think that may be our new "thing."

Owen came out of his class today singing:
Oh Jesus Loves Me
Oh Jesus Loves Me
Oh Jesus Loves Me
The Bible Says Me So

That child sings the songs of my heart. He is such a musical child, from dancing to singing. A few weeks ago we were in the car listening to one of his cds and the The Chicken Dance song came on. He enthusiastically said "Mommy, that's same like Grandma's house." Meaning, Grandma Lewis and that crazy chicken that the boys find every time we visit. It makes me so happy to know that the boys are creating memories and associations of their grandparents and even better, their great grandparents. They are both such blessings in their lives.

So now we are home, Chris is working on the thermostat on the third floor, the boys are rolling down the stairs and Eliza and I are playing in the floor.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day!

Kind of a Do Over

Today was a lazy day around the house for us. It snowed last night and into this morning. We probably ended up with 3-4 inches. Fortunately the boys didn't ask to play out in the snow today because Chris and I weren't really up for it. So we hung around here doing a lot of nothing.
It is getting harder and harder to get her to look at the camera when I am taking pictures.
She is much more interested in everything around her than she is looking at me with a camera.
This is a doll that I had made for her on etsy. Her name is monogrammed across the front and Eliza loves the little taggies for hair.
The boys started out able to play Super Mario this morning but only lasted about 30 minutes before the crying and fighting started so the Wii is back in my closet and I told them to put on the costumes and be superheros.
They were mad at first because they lost their video games, but when daddy started wrestling with them it quickly became more fun.
She could just sit and watch them for hours.
How cute is she? Such a happy girl.
We got ready around 5pm and went to Outback for my birthday dinner since we couldn't go last night. All three children were on their best behavior and I was so pleased. You never really know how things are going to turn out when we go out to eat. But tonight was such a treat. Both boys ate all their dinner which included a large plate of broccoli and Eliza ate some of my cooked carrots and Chris's mashed potatoes. We even got a cheesecake to share between all of us.

Chris didn't eat any of the cheesecake and Ethan asked why. Chris told him it wasn't good for his heart and he wants to keep his heart healthy. Ethan did one of the most mature things I have ever seen him do. He thought about it for a second, (you could actually see his wheels turning in his head) then he put his spoon down without eating anymore. I asked him if he was finished and he said yes. Very responsible if I do say so myself. He is learning about healthy foods at school and is trying to think about which foods he should eat and which foods he should limit. I am very proud of him. He and Owen are going to the doctor on Monday morning for a blood draw to have their cholesterol checked just we will have something to go on. I hope it turns out that it is nothing, but still, it is better that we check it and see.

So that was our day. Nothing too exciting, but good all the same.
