I Hear The Ocean From Here

Today has been one of those days. Eliza was up at 5am and would not go back to sleep. Chris and I puttered around this morning until the boys got up so we could leave for Corolla. The drive wasn't that bad, about 4-5 hours. The saving grace for Eliza getting up so early was that she slept a good bit in the car. Our house was ready early so we came straight here and were able to get in around 1.30 instead of 4pm. We unpacked, grabbed little snack and then we all hit the pool. We played around and went between the pool and hot tub until about 4.30 when we got ready to go out and get some dinner. There really aren't many places to eat this far up the Outer Banks. We stopped in about 3 or 4 places before we gave up and went for Mexican. Everything was either too fancy, too expensive, no children's menu or stinky. Yes, Fat Crabs (a mix of crabs and BBQ) actually stunk. Ask Ethan. He even said so. Out loud. What could I say? It was true. So we spent $40 on some tacos, a burrito and a quesadilla and then decided looks like mama is going to be cooking after all. There are several other choices if we go back south towards Duck, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head so maybe we will try that. Or maybe I will just cook. Who knows?

Right now, the boys are down in the hot tub with Chris, Eliza is sleeping in her pack and play in the walk in closet and I am sitting on the balcony enjoying the dark. Interestingly enough, it is pitch black out here, no street lights at all, but I can't see one single star. Wonder what that is about.

Tomorrow we are supposed to have our beach portraits taken at 5pm. Then I suppose we will try to decide what's for dinner.

It will get better. But we sure are tired. Hopefully Eliza will sleep in a bit in the morning. I won't have any pictures until we get home and Chris can upload them but I will try to post little things here and there then do a big catch up when we get home.

That's it from where I sit.
